Jewish Roots Project
 
ENROLLMENT IS OPEN for our after-school program on Wednesday afternoons at Mishkon for TK, Kinder and 1st graders: the Jewish Roots Project (JRP)! This drop-off program is all about building community, reconnecting with old and new friends, and exploring cultural values in a fun and supportive environment.

Happie Hoffman at Mishkon 
 
Kabbalat Shabbat services with Happie Hoffman have quickly become a cherished Mishkon event. A gifted singer-songwriter with operatic training, Happie has earned both national and international recognition for her joyful, soul-stirring Jewish music.

Surprising new connections are made at the Friday night Shabbat table as Mishkon members get matched to host families for a delightful evening of good food, camaraderie, and song.

Baby & Me Fridays

Baby and Me Fridays is on a summer hiatus and will return on September 12 for a fun fresh season!

Each week, one of our wonderful local community partners will join us for a fun activity, like music, sensory art, and more. Afterward, you’re invited to join our preschoolers for Shabbat songs and challah!

Mishkon Awarded Grant From JFEDLA!

 

We are delighted to share that the new cover for the play yard has been installed! Custom-made specifically for Mishkon, the awning was designed to meet several important goals: sun protection, enhanced security, and flexibility. Each section can be rolled back independently, allowing us to continue using our sukkah both easily and halachically.
 
This project was made possible through a $25,000 Emergency Security Grant from the Jewish Community Foundation and the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles, which prioritized organizations serving children. We are proud to have been selected and grateful for their support.
 
Special thanks to Violet Malek, Project Manager, and David Stein for managing the project from start to finish—their leadership and attention to detail were instrumental in ensuring a smooth and successful installation.
 
While the grant covered a significant portion of the cost, the total expense of the awning was approximately $36,000, leaving a shortfall of about $11,000. We welcome and encourage donations to help close this gap. Your support will directly contribute to the safety and well-being of the children in our community.
